Antonio Mohamed has kept the promise he made to his son, Farid.
The Argentine coach has managed to win the League MX in America with Monterrey after beating Club American in the penalty shoot-out.
After the match ended with a 3-3 overall score, it went to
the penalty shootout.
Leonel Vangioni took responsibility to shoot the last penalty, succeeding in scoring, while Mohamed was sitting in the reserve and crying.
The Monterrey coach had promised his son, Farid, that he would one day become coach of his favorite team and win the league.
His son died in an accident in Germany in 2006 while returning from a match they had watched at the World Cup.
Mohamed managed to keep the promise he made to his son after the match ended with the site weeping, but all the players and club staff went out to support and thank him for the triumph in the league.
Monterrey’s sporting director Duilio Davino said after the match that Mohamed will remain at the helm of their squad for a long time, as it is their motive.
