Apple’s iMac has largely kept the same model for many years now, meaning it’s bound for a redesign at some point in the near future, or at least that’s what is expected.
Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen, but in the meantime, it looks like Apple has come up with a pretty extraordinary idea for a possible redesign.
According to a patent recently discovered by AppleInsider, there is a model for the iMac that Apple has prepared that relies on a single glass frame.
As you can see in the drawing above, there appears the iMac with the screen placed in a curved frame facing the user, with a small backrest to help keep it up.
At the bottom of the frame, there’s a space where it looks like the (potentially virtual) keyboard can be positioned, along with two spaces to its left and right, which can be duplicated into something like trackpads, creating a real system desktop.
It’s a pretty unique design idea, and given it’s a patent, there’s no telling if Apple plans to make it a reality.
